đŸŒŠī¸ Hail Damage
How do I know if my roof has hail damage?

Hail damage is often invisible from the ground. The most common signs include dented or cracked gutters and downspouts, damaged window screens, bruised or missing shingles, and granule loss (you may notice granules washing into your downspouts). We strongly recommend a professional inspection after any hailstorm — our HAAG-certified inspectors know exactly what adjusters look for.

How long do I have to file a hail damage claim?

Most Alberta home insurance policies require you to file a claim within 1 year of the storm date. However, we recommend acting as soon as possible — contractor availability after major hailstorms fills up quickly, and delays can lead to secondary water damage that may complicate your claim.

Can hail damage my roof even if the hailstones were small?

Yes. Hailstones as small as 1" can cause significant damage to standard asphalt shingles, especially on older roofs. The key factor isn't just size — it's the combination of hailstone size, wind speed, and the angle of impact. A HAAG-certified inspection is the only reliable way to determine actual damage.

What is a Class 4 impact-rated shingle?

Class 4 is the highest impact resistance rating for roofing shingles, tested by firing a 2" steel ball at the shingle at various speeds. These shingles are significantly more resistant to hail damage and many Calgary insurers offer premium discounts of 10–30% for homes with Class 4 roofs. We recommend them for all Calgary homes.

đŸ›Ąī¸ Insurance Claims
Will my insurance cover my roof replacement?

In most cases, yes — if the damage was caused by a covered event like a hailstorm or windstorm. Most Alberta home insurance policies cover sudden storm damage. The amount covered depends on your specific policy (replacement cost vs. actual cash value) and your deductible. We've helped over 800 Calgary homeowners successfully navigate insurance claims.

Do I have to pay anything out of pocket?

Usually your only out-of-pocket cost is your deductible — typically $500–$2,500 depending on your policy. In many cases the insurance settlement covers the full replacement. We never charge more than the insurance-approved amount, and we'll fight to make sure your settlement is accurate and fair.

  • We attend adjuster inspections with you
  • We submit supplement requests when needed
  • We handle all paperwork and documentation
Should I file a claim or pay out of pocket?

For storm-related damage, we almost always recommend filing a claim. The replacement cost for a full roof in Calgary ranges from $8,000–$25,000+. Filing a claim for a covered storm event typically doesn't raise your premiums the same way an at-fault claim would. We can help you evaluate this during your free inspection.

🔨 The Process
How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roof replacements are completed in one to two days. Larger or more complex roofs may take up to three days. We always complete a full cleanup — including magnetic nail sweeps of your yard and driveway — before we leave.

Do I need to be home during the installation?

No. As long as we have access to the exterior of your home, you don't need to be present. Most of our customers go about their normal day. Your project manager will keep you updated by text or phone throughout the day and will call when the job is complete.

How soon can you start after I approve the quote?

During regular season (spring/summer/fall), we typically schedule within 1–3 weeks of quote approval. After major hailstorms, demand increases significantly — we recommend getting on our schedule as early as possible. Emergency repairs for active leaks are prioritized and can often be addressed within 24–48 hours.

🏠 Materials
What shingle brands do you use?

We primarily install GAF and Owens Corning shingle systems — two of the most trusted brands in North America. As a GAF certified contractor, we can offer enhanced warranty options including the GAF System Plus and Golden Pledge warranties. We also install Euroshield rubber roofing for maximum hail resistance.

What's the best roofing material for Calgary's climate?

For Calgary's combination of extreme cold, heavy snow, UV exposure, and hailstorms, we recommend:

  • Class 4 impact-rated asphalt shingles — best overall value and insurance savings
  • Euroshield rubber roofing — maximum hail resistance, made from recycled tires
  • Steel/metal roofing — longest lifespan, ideal for long-term investment

✅ Warranty
What does your lifetime workmanship warranty cover?

Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers any failure caused by how we installed the roof — including improper nailing, flashing issues, ventilation errors, or material placement. It does not cover damage caused by subsequent storms, acts of God, or modifications made by others. There is no time limit on this warranty for the original homeowner.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my house?

Our workmanship warranty covers the original homeowner. Manufacturer warranties (GAF, Owens Corning) often include a transferability option — typically the first transfer is included at no charge and provides significant value when listing your home for sale. Ask your project manager for the specific details on your chosen product.
